‘I want to have this Problem’ – Chelsea boss Conte Says Matic is not for Sale
Chelsea coach
Antonio Conte has made it clear midfielder Nemanja Matic is going nowhere and
believes the Serbia international can become one of the best in the world, Goal writes.
Conte takes charge

Matic was
inspirational as Chelsea romped to a first title in five years during
the 2014/15 campaign, but was far from his best during the Blues’ forgettable
title defence that saw former coach Jose Mourinho get the boot.
And amid
speculation the 27-year-old Serbian midfielder is surplus to requirement at
Stamford Bridge following the signing of N’Golo Kante from Leicester City,
Conte has offered glowing endorsement of the player’s abilities.
“Matic is a
very important player for me, he is very important in my idea of football,” Conte
said ahead of Thursday’s International Champions Cup match against Liverpool in
Pasadena.
Staying on! Matic to remain at the Bridge

“He knows this and I’m delighted by his attitude and behaviour and I see in him commitment. I know with work he can become a fantastic midfielder, one of the best in the world. He is not for sale.”
Rather than
being replacements for one another, the Italian tactician believes
both men can operate together alongside an impressive midfield cast that also
features Nigeria captain John Obi Mikel.
“N’Golo is a good player and he was a target of our market. I am pleased the club bought this player and he is fantastic,” he explained.
“In a great team it is important to see the right attitude in all the players…I can’t wait to see him and work with him and to transfer my idea of football to him.”
“Then when you have N’Golo Kante, Cesc [Fabregas], [Nathaniel] Chalobah and so on, it’s not easy to choose [in midfield]. I want to have this problem.”
Chelsea will be
looking to get their 2016/17 Premier League campaign off to a winning start
when West Ham United visit the Bridge August 14.
