Beyonce Files Countersuit Against Filmmaker Who Says She Stole ‘Lemonade’ From His Short Film
Beyonce has
called filmmaker Matthew Fulks’ claim that she ripped him off for her Lemonade
album trailer a complete BS.
According to
TMZ, the singer has filed a suit calling Fulks’ claims ‘bogus’, adding that
Lemonade is about “an African-American woman who progresses through stages of
suspicion, denial, anger and, ultimately, reconciliation in her relationship.”
Palinoia, on the other hands, is about a “white man who is distressed in
the wake of a failed relationship.”
Recall that
Fulks accused the singer of ripping off his 2014 short film,
Palinoia, for the trailer of her 2016 visual album, Lemonade. From the
suit filed by Fulks last month, he was specific about the parts of the trailer
stolen from his film. He said they included “characters in front of
graffiti-covered walls, red tinted images, dimly lit parking garages and
closeup shots of “overgrown grass.”
Fulks adds that
a Senior VP at Beyonce’s record company Columbia Music saw his film in 2015,
before the shooting of Bey’s Lemonade later that year.
This adds to the
string of accusations against the multi award-winning entertainer. See
here for the 13 times she allegedly stole someone’s idea.
