52-year-old Ghanaian Farmer Butchered to Death by Thief Stealing From His Farm

area in Assin North Municipality of Ghana has been thrown into grief after a
52-year-old farmer, Kwame Amissah, was butchered to death by a thief,
25-year-old Yaw Nkansah, whom he caught stealing from his farm.
According to
Modern Ghana:
Assemblyman for the area said he had received numerous reports from the farmer about his missing crops and decided to hide in the farm to catch the culprits. This was when he caught Yaw Nkansah, the Assemblyman said.
He added that a struggle ensued when the suspect was caught. He overpowered the farmer and butchered him with a machete.
The farmer lost his life while he was being conveyed from the farm to the hospital.Yaw Nkansah is said to have fled the town after the incident. Some youths of the town have mounted a search for him.
Confirming the
tragedy, the Assin Praso Police District Commander, Superintendent Alhassan
Sabaliko, said residents have been warned against carrying out retaliatory
attacks on the suspect.
“We have told
them to hold on for the law to take its own course.
They shouldn’t rush into
anything or vandalize any property.”
He added that
the police is working to arrest Nkansah.
