Fergie Dumps ‘Black Eyed Peas’ to Focus on Solo Project and Fans are Upset
Fergie has
dumped the iconic group Black Eyed Peas.
According to Los
Angeles Times, this was confirmed yesterday by the group’s frontman Will.i.am
who said in a statement that the singer is now a solo artist.
“Fergie is family and will always be a Pea,” he told LA Times, adding, “She is focused on her solo album, which we fully support.”
The group which
burst into the spotlight as a hip hop group called Atban Klann later was
rebranded to Black Eyed Peas. In 2002, Fergie joined the group. They have since
dropped hit records that brought them multi-platinum successes. But trouble
started in 2015, when the group dropped a song ‘Yesterday’,and Fergie was not
on it.
Also, the
‘Big Girls Don’t Cry’ singer dropped a steamy video MILF featuring
Kim Kardashian, Chrissy Teigen and more in 2016, and later she launched
her own Dutchess Music imprint.
“It’s an
opportunity to release my solo music as well as develop and nurture new artists,”
she said in a statement at the time. “This next chapter in my career will
allow me the independence to evolve both as an artist and as a businesswoman.”
Now, she is
officially off the hit group and fans are not taking kindly to this news.
