FG set up Burial Committee for the Legendary Stephen Keshi
The federal
government has set up a burial committee as part of arrangements to give the
late former Super Eagles captain and coach Stephen Keshi a befitting
burial.
This was
disclosed Wednesday by the General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation
(NFF), Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, who added that the committee will have
representations from the federal government, the NFF as well as Delta and Edo
states.
Dr Mohammed
further revealed that the burial will take place by the last week of July, all
things being equal.
As a testament
to his huge impact on the game, World, European and African player of the
year, George Weah of Liberia and the Ghana-born former France defender,
Marseille Desailly have joined a number of international players who have
indicated interest to attend the burial.
Vanguard
Sports reports that the players yesterday called the NFF to inquire
about the burial arrangements. “Yes I can reveal to you that one of the
renowned African players yesterday called the NFF to know about the burial
plans and they have been promised that the details will be communicated to them
as soon as it was concluded,” a source said.
The committee
will be announced before the end of next week.
