Buhari Appoints Ibrahim Kpotun Idris as Acting Inspector-General of Police; Solomon Arase Bows Out

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday approved the appointment of Mr Ibrahim Kpotun Idris as replacement for outgoing inspector-general of police, Mr Solomon Arase.


Mr Kpotun is to hold the reins in acting capacity following the exit of Mr Arase who retires today after 35 years in the service of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).

Prior to his appointment, Mr Ibrahim Kpotun Idris who hails from Niger State, was the Assistant Inspector General (AIG) in charge of Operations at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

NTA state house correspondent, Adamu Sambo reports that President Muhammadu Buhari is presently holding a meeting with both the outgoing and incoming Inspectors-General of police at the presidential villa.

On Monday, the president hosted Mr Arase to a dinner at the presidential villa where he expressed the gratitude of the federal government for Arase’s service to the nation.
