Buhari Loses Patience, Storms Out of Meeting With Ezekwesili’s #BBOG Group
President
Muhammadu Buhari reportedly stormed out of his meeting with the parents of the
abducted Chibok girls at the State House.
Members of the
Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) group insisted on meeting President Buhari as part
of their mega rally which was held on Thursday, January 14, 2016.
The group, had
some parents of the missing Chibok girls, marched towards the Presidential
Villa but were met by a team which consisted of the Minister of Women Affairs,
Aisha Al-Hassan, as well as the Minister of Defense, Monsur Dan-Ali, the
National Security Adviser, Mohammed Monguno, and the Chief of Defense Staff,
Abayomi Olonishakin.
Speaking on
behalf of the group was former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, who said
they had come to see the President as regards the promise he made to them
during their initial visit on Wednesday, July 8, 2015.
They were later
allowed to meet with the President, a meeting which ended on a bad note.
When the
president eventually arrived, he ordered journalists out of the meeting.
Shehu, who voiced the order, said the reason was because some “sensitive
issues” were to be discussed.
A galaxy of
journalists who had turned up for the meeting thronged out of the banquet hall,
venue of the meeting, in quick steps.
According to
Twitter users, Buhari was angry throughout the meeting and later stormed out of
the hall.
#BBOGReengagesPMB: @MBuhari was
visibly angry. He spoke in English & Hausa. Stormed out of the hall. No
pictures or time spent with parents.

#BBOGReengagesPMB:
The mood & tone of the July 8th meeting was much warmer than today’s
meeting. @MBuhariwas
cold. #BringBackOurGirls

Mr @MBuhari missed a golden opportunity to connect
’emotionally’ with the #ChibokParents.#BBOGReengagesPMB The demand continues…

Mr President came in angry & left
angry, closing his rather un-empathetic diatribe with “Thank for coming to see
me” to d #ChibokParents
