Jamie Foxx Recalls Brave Rescue Of Man From Car Crash: ‘I Don’t Think Of It As Heroic’
Rescuing someone from
a burning car is certainly considered heroic to most, but apparently not Jamie
Foxx! After the actor saved a man’s life on Jan. 18, he recalled his
bravery in the humblest way possible: Not even declaring himself a hero!
Jamie Foxx,
48, can add life saver to his already impressive resume, but he doesn’t seem to
think it’s necessary. Jamie rescued Brett Kyle, 32, after his car
flipped and burst into flames on Jan. 18, saving the man’s life in a
brave act of heroism. Despite his courage, though, Jamie doesn’t consider
it to be heroic — Jamie just views the situation as an opportunity to help
someone out!
“I don’t look at
it as heroic. I just look at it like…just happy to do something,” Jamie told
NBC4, giving a recap of what happened on the fateful night. Upon hearing
the crash and Brett’s cry for help, Jamie ran to the rescue. “I said [to
Brett], ‘You gotta help me get you out because I don’t want to have to leave
you.’ I said, ‘You got angels around you. You have angels around you.'”
With such a
humble outlook on the situation, what Jamie probably doesn’t realize is that he
was Brett’s angel that night. Brett’s father, Brad Kyle, tearfully
expressed his gratitude that Jamie would take action in such a scary situation —
reminding Jamie that without him, Brett may not be alive now.
Once Brett was
brought to the hospital, Brad actually had the opportunity to meet
with Jamie to thank him for saving his son’s life. Jamie posted
a sweet picture of the two in an emotional hug on his Instagram,
writing that it wasn’t important for him to be recognized as a hero, but
instead that a man’s life was able to be spared.
Okay, how
sweet is that? Whether Jamie wants to believe he is a hero, his humbleness
makes him just as much of a hero as his bravery did. We loved Jamie way before
he saved a man’s life, but now he’s even more amazing…even if he
humbly refuses to admit it!
Do you think
what Jamie did was heroic, OJPals? Would you have been
brave enough to pull a man out of a burning car? Tell us in the comments below!
