Barbra Streisand Writes Celine Dion Touching Note After Husband’s Death
This is
incredibly touching. As Celine Dion mourned the loss of her husband René
Angélil at his wake in Montreal on Jan. 21, legendary singer Barbra Streisand
took to Instagram to share a heartfelt message of support with the
grieving singer.
Barbra Streisand, 73, is
really pulling at our heart strings with this one. As Celine Dion, 47,
prepared to bid her final goodbye to her late husband Rene Angelil at a public viewing in Montreal
on Jan. 21, the Hollywood icon took to Instagram to offer
her love and support to the grieving singer with one incredibly
moving throwback photo. See it here!
The Funny
Girl actress took to Instagram on Jan. 21 to post a
throwback photo of her and Celine, along with an emotional note
honoring Rene’s tragic passing. “Dear @CelineDion – Every time you
look at your children’s faces, you will see René,” she wrote. “With love
and strength – B.” In the photo, Barbra can be seen smiling and wrapping
her arm around the “Because You Loved Me” singer, with whom she has been
friends with since 1997, when they recorded their epic duet “Tell Him.” So
sweet!
Sadly, the
touching tribute couldn’t have come at a better time as Celine had returned to
the Notre-Dame Basilica in Montreal — the same church where she and Rene
married in 1994 — earlier that day for the public viewing of her long-time
love. As expected, the Canadian singer looked beyond heartbroken as
she stood by her husband’s casket and greeted almost every single mourner that
came to pay their respects.
Thankfully for
Celine, Rene had reportedly planned his entire funeral before his Jan. 14
death. “René
was generous enough to prepare all of this since the last few months with
Céline,” the singer’s stylist and long-time friend Annie Horth told People. “He
didn’t know when it would happen, but he really wanted everything to be already
prepared.” And because of that, Celine is “going through [this] peacefully
and with control.”
At this
time, very few details about his funeral have yet to be revealed.
What we do know however, is that Celine will not be performing at Rene’s
funeral on Jan. 22, despite multiple reports claiming otherwise. We can
only assume that Celine is far too devastated at this time to get up and
perform live. After all, she not only lost her husband just last week, but also
her brother, Daniel Dion,
who died of cancer just days later.
It’s truly heartbreaking.
Our thoughts
continue to go out to Celine, as well as Rene’s friends and family, during this
difficult time.
