BlackBerry DTEK60 arrives with 5.5in QHD screen, Snapdragon 820 and USB-C

THE LONG-RUMOURED BlackBerry DTEK60 is official and arrives as the firm's highest-spec smartphone to date. 


The BlackBerry DTEK60. which the firm tells us is aimed at the enterprise, businesses and consumers (so, everybody then), sees the firm eyeing up the likes of Samsung and Apple in the specification stakes, despite no longer making its own smartphones.

Built by TCL (no, not TLC), the awfully-named DTEK60 features a 5.5in QHD AMOLED display. An improvement on the 5.2in FHD screen sat on its DTEK50 predecessor.

It's had an upgrade under the hood too and packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chip, 4GB RAM and 32GB expandable storage, expandable up to 2TB via the on-board micro SD slot.

The BlackBerry DTEK60 is the firm's first smartphone to offer USB-C connectivity, and the firm was keen to big-up the fact that the handset retains the 3.5mm audio jack, despite measuring in at just shy of 7mm-thick. 

"This is a feature our users love," said Scott Wenger, VP of design and devices at BlackBerry told the INQUIRER. "We don't want to get rid of features that our users appreciate."
Ouch. Feel that burn, Apple. 

On the specs front, you'll also find a 21MP rear-facing camera, 8MP front-facing camera, a built-in fingerprint on the rear, a 3,000mAh battery for a claimed 24 hours of usage and BlackBerry's ruddy Convenience Key, which provides quick access to most used applications or tasks.


BlackBerry ain't too fussed about all that, though, and has been more keen to talk up the handset's security credentials. 

Much like its predecessor, the DTEK60 offers chip-level security, a secure bootloader and BlackBerry's privacy-focused DTEK app, which allows you to manage which apps have access to your personal information such as location data and phone number. 

BlackBerry also notes that, unlike some, it's ready-to-go with zero-day patches as soon as Google announces its monthly Android security updates. 

It's not just on the security side where BlackBerry has stuffed its own software, though, as you'll also find the firm's BlackBerry Hub and Calendar apps, along with its supposedly "intelligent" keyboard smarts and gesture controls. 

The BlackBerry DTEK60 is available to pick up from the BlackBerry Store from today, priced at £475 SIM-free.

‘Queen of SnapChat’ YesJulz Sex Tape Hits the Internet, and it’s Horrible

YesJulz’ sex tape has finally hit the internet. The tape which shows the acclaimed ‘Queen of Snapchat’ having sex with a male photographer was leaked by two people she recruited to work with her. According to  Bossip , the two people – a Miami-based fitness model, Hencha Voigt, and another man, Wesley Victor – hacked into Julz’ phone, got her explicit photos and the sex tape YesJulz recorded. The duo then threatened to release them to the public within 24hrs if she didn’t pay them $18,000 cash. The Miami Beach Police said that Voigt and Victor sent Julz some of the pictures and videos as proof. “ 18K cash … you can have them back as I said you dope chick. I like your movment look if I feel any fun business game over your choice,”  Victor said in his message to Julz last week, and then they gave her a 24-hour deadline.
