Opinions Divided as Mikel is Named Team Nigeria Captain to Rio 2016

The surprise announcement by Sports Minister Solomon Dalung that John Obi Mikel is captain of Team Nigeria to the Rio 2016 Olympics hasn’t gone down well with the sporting community. Mikel hit the U23 camp in Atlanta on Monday Mikel, 29, will be making his first appearance at the Games after being named as one of two overage players by U23 coach Samson Siasia, and stakeholders have expressed shock at his elevation ahead of veteran Olympians,  Vanguard  reports. Fans of Kim Kardashian are currently freaking out after she showed off her son, Saint West, for the first time in a while, yesterday. Kim stepped out with baby Saint while shooting a new episode of  Keeping Up With The Kardashians  which is centred on a family outing to visit great-grandmother Mary Jo “MJ” Houghton on her 82nd birthday. The eight month-old, who was a tiny baby the last time he made headlines, looked so adorable as he rocked a camouflage shirt and held on tight to his mum. This will be Saint’s first big outing in ages and unlike his big sister North, who has been called her Daddy’s girl; fans can’t seem to see the resemblance between young Saint West and his parents. Davido is expanding his philanthropic reach beyond cash and jewelry, the newly signed RCA Records artiste has decided to invest in the critical educational sector. The original  ‘Omo Baba Olowo’  is setting up a foundation- Veronica Adeleke Education Scholarship program, in honour of his late mother which will kick off this year. And he has promised to sponsor students to the university every year through its machinery. The  ‘Aye’  singer who also has a multi-million dollar deal with Sony BMG, took to his instagram to share his latest philanthropic endeavour stressing that  “so may people deserve education.”  HE announced that he will start the scholarship programme with 4 students this year and continue as the years progress. “So many people deserve education. French Police Shoot 2 Men Dead After They Killed a Priest in Normandy

More terror is unleashed on France with reports that a priest has been killed in the Normandy region of the country after two men armed with knives took hostages in a church before being shot dead by police. Police in Normandy have called for calm According to the  Guardian ,  a police source said the priest’s throat had been slit, while a French interior ministry spokesman added that a second hostage was in a life-threatening condition. Local newspapers said the murdered priest, 92, was from the church in Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray, near Rouen. A total of five people, including two nuns and two worshipers – were taken hostage by the assailants. French media reports that the police got wind of the situation when one of the hostages managed to escape to raise the alarm. Basketball star Michael Jordan has spoken out about racial tensions in the US, pledging $2m (£1.5m; €1.8m) to two charities to help improve relations. Michael Jordan's father was shot dead in 1993 by two car thieves. The former Chicago Bulls player, who was criticised during his career for not addressing political issues, said he could "no longer stay silent". Jordan's father, James Jordan, was shot dead in 1993 at a roadside rest stop. He said recent police shootings and subsequent targeting of police officers had prompted him to speak out.
