EFCC Chairman Magu May Have Been Sacked, EFCC Debunks Claim

There are indications that acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr Ibrahim Magu may have been sacked by the presidency.

The Guardian reports that the attorney-general of the federation (AGF) and minister of justice, Mr Abubakar Malami SAN has directed the acting EFCC boss to vacate his seat and hand over the reins to the director of operations at EFCC.

Magu is also to return to the Nigeria Police Force according to sources who spoke with the Guardian.
President Buhari had directed the AGF to investigate the corruption claims against Magu and other senior government officials.

According to Sahara Reporters, Mr Malami has submitted the report of his investigations into allegations against Magu to the president.

But the EFCC has swiftly responded to this claim.
“Not true”,  Mr Wilson Uwujaren spokesman of the commission, had succinctly said in response to an SMS enquiry by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Saturday morning.#

While that brief response seems very underwhelming, it will be interesting to see how the story develops over the next couple of days.
