EFCC Chairman Magu May Have Been Sacked, EFCC Debunks Claim

There are indications that acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr Ibrahim Magu may have been sacked by the presidency. The Guardian reports that the attorney-general of the federation (AGF) and minister of justice, Mr Abubakar Malami SAN has directed the acting EFCC boss to vacate his seat and hand over the reins to the director of operations at EFCC. Magu is also to return to the Nigeria Police Force according to sources who spoke with the Guardian. President Buhari had directed the AGF to investigate the corruption claims against Magu and other senior government officials. According to Sahara Reporters, Mr Malami has submitted the report of his investigations into allegations against Magu to the president. But the EFCC has swiftly responded to this claim. “Not true”,  Mr Wilson Uwujaren spokesman of the commission, had succinctly said in response to an SMS enquiry by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Saturday morning.#

‘2016/17 Season has been a Complete Flop’ – Wenger Blasts

Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, has said that the 2016-17 Premier League season has been “disappointing on all levels”,  Goal  writes. 15 Boko Haram Fighters Killed After Audacious Attack on Borno Community

No fewer than 15 Boko Haram Fighters were killed after a surprise attack by the sect on soldiers of the 3 Battalion and the 122 Task Force Battalion in Rann, a small community in Borno State on Friday. According to the Nation, the shootout which lasted several hours was believed to be initiated by terrorists dislodged from Sambisa Forest. A military source in the NAF said: “ four wounded soldiers were today evacuated from the battle front in Rann to Maiduguri for medical treatment .” It was gathered that the NAF responded swiftly to a call for evacuation of the wounded soldiers as the four soldiers who were wounded in the firefight, were evacuated by a Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Augusta Helicopter, a recent addition to the NAF’s fleet from the Presidential Air Fleet (PAF). Ammunition recovered from the Boko Haram invaders yesterday include two AK47 rifles, one M21 rifle, four FN rifles, 20 X 7.62MM special, 4 X FN extra magazine and some locally made bombs. OJPal

Iconic Singer, Sia, has filed for divorce from her husband after just two years of marriage. According to  TMZ , the  Chandelier  singer filed the documents in Los Angeles on grounds that they have ‘irreconcilable differences’. Then they released a joint statement, saying that “ after much soul searching and consideration we have made the decision to separate as a couple. We are, however, dedicated to remaining friends .” The duo got engaged in June 2014 and tied the knot two months later. Not long after, Sia revealed in an interview with Australian radio station Nova 96.9, that being in the spotlight deeply affects their relationship. “ It’s kind of disappointing because we can’t do anything. EFCC Goes After Ex-Permanent Secretary for Spending N1.5 Billion on GEJ Campaign

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, is investigating a former Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Power, Godknows Igali, after it discovered that he allegedly spent N1.5bn for the purchase of Sports Utility Vehicles (SUV) which were used by the campaign of the immediate past President, Goodluck Jonathan for the 2015 presidential election.  The Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, on Thursday, alleged that 40 SUVs and other vehicles were recovered from an unnamed retired permanent secretary. But quoting unnamed detectives of the EFCC, the Punch stated that the retired permanent secretary Mohammed was referring to was Igali. The EFCC revealed that an artisan who was employed by Igali had tipped them off on the vehicle in the former civil servant’s residence in Abuja.
